2. Calibration

Select One: Type J Type K Type T Type E Type S Type R Type N Type B Other Maximum temperature limits for each ANSI type thermocouple materials are given (see “more info” button), however these will vary depending on sheath materials, application atmospheres, wire gauge size, insulating materials and epoxy composition.

3. Junction

Tip Style: Round Tip Flat Tip 118 Deg. Drill Tip Needle Tip Reduced Tip Exposed Tip Tip style defines the surface area or shape of the thermocouple sensing tip, i.e. round tip (std), flat tip, drill point tip (118 deg), etc., which is determined by your application process.  The type junction again is determined by the application, i.e., ungrounded for process noise isolation, longer life, whereas, in general a grounded junction provides a compromise between performance (fast response) and thermocouple life.  Each style and type of junction has its advantages and disadvantages see “more info” button for specific information. 4. Element Type

Select One: Single Duplex Triplex Up to three separate thermocouples in a single sheath.  Separate ungrounded junctions can be wired to different instruments.

5. Sheath Operating Temperature

Select One: -325 F to 500 F -325 F to 750 F -325 F to 1200 F 32 F to 1650 F 32 F to 2100 F Other The maximum temperature of the application affects the calibration, size (diameter) and material of the sensor we select.

6. Sheath Material

Select One: 304SS 310SS 316SS INCONEL Other The application dictates the choice of sheath materials.  304SS and 316SS are most commonly used but temperatures and corrosive conditions can necessitate the use of other materials.

7. Sheath Diameter

Select One: .010" .020" .032" .040" .063" .125" .188" .250" .313" .375" .500" Other The Mineral Insulated thermocouples come in a number of sizes but the choice is greatly influenced by the maximum temperature of the application.  For high temp applications bigger is better.

8. Sheath Length "L"

Enter Inches: Although the accuracy of the thermocouple is not affected by the length of the sheath consult the factory when the probe length exceeds 120 inches.

9. Head Mounting Fittings

Select Type: None SS Fixed Bushing Steel Fixed Hex Nipple SS Fixed Hex Nipple Single Male NPT Double Male NPT Other Fittings of all thread sizes, materials and design are available for most applications.   (For Hex Nipple and NPT only) Select NPT: None 1/8" NPT 1/4" NPT 1/2" NPT 3/4" NPT (Fixed Bushing Only)

10.Sheath Fittings

Select Type: None SS Fixed Bushing Brass Compression (one time adj.) SS Compression (one time adj.) SS Compression (re-adjustable) Other Fittings of all thread sizes, materials and design are available for most applications.   (For Compression Fittings and Fixed Bushing only) Select NPT: None 1/8" NPT 1/4" NPT 1/2" NPT 3/4" NPT (Fixed Bushing Only)

11. Fitting Location "F"

Enter inches from tip ( "N" for None ) Measured from the first thread to the tip of the sheath.  Allow for the thread-in insertion length of the fitting when determining location.

13. Bend Angle

Select One: None 45 Degree Bend 90 Degree bend Other Mineral insulated thermocouples should not be bent on a radius smaller than twice the outside sheath diameter.

14. Bend Location "C"

Enter inches from tip ( "N" for None ) There are minimum bend locations for all Mineral Insulated sensors – dependent on sheath diameter.
